Transformation Plan
Joice dreams of producing food that lasts the family a year instead of 5 months as is the case currently. Joice also dreams of having a better house, one that is iron-roofed and has cement floor. Pamoza will work with Joice to improve her food production, spiritual well-being, and other family life matters. Of particular attention will be the sharing of the Gospel for character change.
Family CHIEF Assessment Summary
Character Assessment Score = 1
Joice attends Church every Sunday but does not participate in Christian activities. To change character in this household, Pamoza will affirm the centrality of the Gospel in a person’s life and encourage Joice to participate in Christian activities.
Health Assessment score = 1
The family has a bath shelter; it is in poor condiytion. Pamoza will encourage the family to build primary health care facilities and hygienic lifestyles for controlling the spread of preventable diseases.
Income Assessment score = 1
Farming is the main way Joice generates income. Unfortunately, there is no surplus production that would be sold to generate that income. Ganyu, labor invested on other people’s farms for meager pay, is another way Joice generates income. This basically traps her into cycles of poverty. Pamoza will brainstorm with her on how she can generate more income creatively.
Education Assessment score = 1
Joice dropped out of school in Grade 3 to marry John who dropped out of school in Grade 9 because of lack of fees. Pamoza will encourage Joice to join an adult literacy training group and to support the education of her children.
Food Security Assessment score = 1
Of her 5 acres of land, Joice cultivated 1.5 acres in the 2023 - 2024 agricultural season, putting 1 acre to maize, the staple food crop. The amount of maize she harvested will last 5 months. Pamoza will brainstorm with Joice on how she can produce more maize. Assisting her with fertilizer and improved seed along with training will help Joice to produce enough maize and attain food security.
